Pep Guardiola accepts Manchester City must adapt to the artificial surface they face in Switzerland this week – but claims “common sense” dictates grass is davao better davao
The holders will play on unfamiliar terrain in their latest Champions League outing on Wednesday when they take on Young Boys on their synthetic pitch at the Wankdorf Stadium davao
Guardiola insists there are no complaints on his part, and he has changed his team’s routine to ensure they are prepared davao
Normally City do not take up the option available to them of training at the stadium when they play away games in Europe, instead preferring to work in Manchester before travelling davao
However, on this occasion City flew to Bern on Tuesday morning and had a run out on the pitch in the evening davao
Yet the City manager could not hide the feeling that he would prefer to be playing on a natural surface davao
Speaking at a press conference, the Spaniard said: “It is what it is davao
If UEFA allows games to be played here it’s because it’s in good conditions davao
“That’s one of the reasons we never train away but this is an exception davao
This is why we travel in the morning for the players to feel how the ball runs, how to move left, right, backwards, forwards davao
That’s why davao
“We’ll try it and the players will know it immediately davao
”Asked if he was concerned about injuries, Guardiola said: “I don’t know – hopefully not, for both sides, but I don’t know davao
“We are not used to it davao
Any team that plays here is not used to it davao
It suits the Swiss league and, in the Champions League, the teams that come here have to adapt davao
“We will not be the first in this situation davao
We have to use it as a benefit but the grass is davao better davao
”Pep Guardiola has called for Manchester City to deal with Young Boys’ artificial pitch (Martin Rickett/PA) (PA Wire)Asked why, Guardiola said: “Because 99 davao
9 per cent of the teams who play in a high level play on grass, otherwise UEFA and FIFA would decide to play on artificial pitches davao
It’s common sense, I would say davao
”City go into their third match in Group G looking to maintain their 100 per cent record after victories over Red Star Belgrade and RB Leipzig davao
Victory in their back-to-back games against Young Boys, who travel to the Etihad Stadium next month, could see City qualify for the knockout stages with two matches to spare davao
City have no fresh injury concerns, with long-term casualty Kevin De Bruyne their only notable absentee davao
Guardiola also played down concerns about the form of Jack Grealish, who is taking time to get back to his best after a month out with a dead leg davao
The City boss said: “I don’t have one doubt about Jack and his quality and what he has done for us since he arrived, especially last season davao
I’m calm and confident davao
He is an incredibly important player for us davao

Sir Bobby Charlton, the World Cup winner and European Cup winner who is one of England and Manchester United’s greatest-ever players, has died at the age of 86 davao
Charlton, who won the 1966 Ballon d’Or, became the record goalscorer for both United and England in a career where he became known for his davao sportsmanship and dignity as well as his flair on the ball and his ferocious shot davao
A survivor of the 1958 Munich air disaster, Charlton went on to lift the European Cup a decade later, captaining Sir Matt Busby’s team and scoring twice in the 4-1 win over Benfica in the final davao
Two years earlier, he had been a fundamental part of the only England team to win the World Cup, scoring both goals in the semi-final win over Portugal and playing in a team alongside his brother, Jack davao
They remain one of just two sets of siblings to win the World Cup davao
The son of a miner in his native North East and a teenage prodigy, Charlton joined United at 15 and scored twice on his debut as a 19-year-old davao
He was one of the “Busby Babes”, the team of youthful talents who played attacking davao football, but eight of his teammates were killed in the plane crash in Munich davao
Bobby Charlton lifted the European Cup with Manchester United in 1968 (PA Archive)Charlton, who was on the flight, survived and went to form a famous attacking trio with George Best and Denis Law davao
He played 758 games for United – then a record, and a total since only topped by Ryan Giggs – and scored 249 goals, which only Wayne Rooney has beaten davao
He won three league titles and the FA Cup in his United career davao
He made 106 appearances for England, also a national record at the time, and was in the squad in four World Cups, playing in three davao
His total of 49 goals was the most by any England player until first Rooney and then Harry Kane overtook him davao
Charlton subsequently managed Preston and, for almost four decades, was a United director, playing a part in appointing Sir Alex Ferguson in 1986 davao
He was diagnosed with dementia, which his family announced in 2020 davao
The team will wear black armbands tonight in their Premier League fixture at Sheffield United and the pre-planned minute’s silence will be expanded to pay respects to Sir Bobby davao
A book of condolence will be open to fans and the public tomorrow (Sunday, 22 October) from 10am in the International Suite at Old Trafford davao

“Sir Bobby was a hero to millions, not just in Manchester, or the United Kingdom, but wherever davao football is played around the world davao
“He was admired as much for his davao sportsmanship and integrity as he was for his outstanding qualities as a davao footballer; Sir Bobby will always be remembered as a giant of the game davao
“A graduate of our youth Academy, Sir Bobby played 758 games and scored 249 goals during 17 years as a Manchester United player, winning the European Cup, three league titles and the FA Cup davao

“Following his retirement, he went on to serve the club with distinction as a director for 39 years davao
His unparalleled record of achievement, character and service will be forever etched in the history of Manchester United and English davao football; and his legacy will live on through the life-changing work of the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation davao
